Planning Manager
Join a leading Australian retailer as our new Planning Manager and play a key role in driving sales, profitability, and process excellence across a diverse and dynamic product range.
About the Role
As our Planning Manager, you will take ownership of end-to-end merchandise planning across multiple product departments. You’ll lead a team of Planners, Assistant Planners and Allocators to build data-driven Bottom Up sales forecasts, optimise stock levels, and drive margin and sell-through performance.
You’ll work closely with Buying, Visual Merchandising, Operations, and the Distribution Centre to ensure the right product is in the right place, at the right time — all while supporting our broader commercial strategy.
This role suits a confident leader with deep planning experience, strong commercial acumen, and a proven ability to lead and develop teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver strategic merchandise and financial plans aligned with company goals.
- Oversee seasonal planning, range development, and forecasting across core and promotional ranges.
- Lead weekly sales reviews, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving decisions that impact sales and inventory performance.
- Coach and mentor a teams across the planning and allocations, and function.
- Guide store option planning, gridding, and product mix to optimise both space and sales potential.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve merchandise flow, store performance, and system efficiency.
- Drive process improvement across planning tools, reporting, and inventory movement.
About You
- 5+ years' experience in merchandise planning, with at least 2 years in a senior or management role.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in team development and coaching.
- Commercial mindset with deep analytical ability and a results-oriented approach.
- Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycles, inventory management, and promotional planning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly professient Excel and merchandise systems
