The Position

We currently have a brand new position for a Workcover, OHS and Compliance guru to join our team in a full time capacity based at our support office in Hawthorn, Melbourne. 

This brand new exciting role reports directly into our Group Financial Controller and is responsible for the proactive management of Workcover claims and RTW obligations across Bed Bath N’ Table and its associated entities as well as all things safety and non-financial compliance across the group.

Key areas of accountability include the timely management of claims and RTW plans to ensure that not only we support our staff to return to work as soon as they are able to but to also take the initiative to analyse incidents, injuries and trends that will help support your recommendations to improve the workplace.  Part of this will also include educating and providing advice to our line managers through safety issues and risk awareness.

The unique aspect of this position includes the exposure to compliance across the business in regards to ethical sourcing and human slavery standards, disaster and infection control as well as APC (Australian packaging covenant) compliance.

This role will suit a commercially minded and energetic person that is keen to work collaboratively across retail, warehouse and head office to promote a risk awareness culture.

This role is full time across Monday to Friday however, there is an expectation that after hour calls may be required.

The Perfect Profile

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualified in Work Health and Safety or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in Workcover injury management and has completed RTW training
  • Ability to interpret and practically apply WHS legislation and standards to a retail environment
  • High level of investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Experience in a retail environment will be considered as highly advantageous
